Design ideas for Sci-fi theme, looking at the set and later game design for the Nostromo spacecraft seen in Ridley Scotts (1979) Alien, with later designs from (2014) Alien Isolation game by Sega and concept art.

Here the idea of including the colour “red”in the form of dripping or still rust, reflecting light but creating an almost dirty feel to the image, could include a rust underlay when highlighting links on the website?

Researching into the standard/ typical colours schemes seen throughout the two target genres and the industries most used website creation colours, I designed this quick colour board as a starting point when choosing the colour pallet for the websites colour theme.

It’s clear to see different shades of grey seem to be the most common link between the 3 schemes and could be included as soft background blanket for content to be layered over, a clear example of this use comes in www.apple.co.uk.

http://www.interstellarmovie.net is a good example of a website that uses darker colours to create  the immersion of the film being based around space travel, something that can be more visually appealing in todays market of full HD, Retina and 4000k monitor displays.

Horror website often include a degree of red colour where appropriate, but it is important to not use to much of one colour that isn’t consider a “blanket” such as grey, white and black.
